shipping idiocy

So a while back I ordered a Lian Li PC-76 case. Nice case. Really nice case. It was supposed to be delivered yesterday, but m00t said it hadn't arrived, and so I thought, hey, maybe it got delayed a little and it'll be delivered today. No biggie.

I check the tracking info, just to make sure.

Turns out that it got to Seattle and - I quote - "RECEIVER MOVED, NOT DELIVERED; PACKAGE RETURNED TO SENDER".

Since I thought it was possible that I'd sent it to my old house, and something weird had happened, I decided to call UPS and find out what was happening. Well, I found out - you know that first line in the address, where you have something like 123 71st St NW?

Well, they had the equivalent of "123 71".

This *despite* the fact that both confirmation emails I was sent had the right address.

So I called the company I bought it from (which should be recieving it again in a day or two). After some explaining with their sales representative (who, of course, does not speak English very well - I've ranted on *that* before also) it appears that it wasn't meant to be shipped when I ordered it.

For some reason it was scheduled to be shipped *today*, a full week *after* I ordered it.

Despite the fact that they already shipped me one, TO THE WRONG ADDRESS, and billed me for it.

Are you confused? I know I am.

They're going to call me back. If they don't in fifteen minutes or so, I'm calling them again.

Well, apparently someone at that address said that I had moved. I seriously doubt it was m00t, because he'd already gotten a package or two for me and he'd know it would be easy for me to get it, and I also doubt it was hawkswift - for one thing, he probably wasn't there, and if he was, he probably wouldn't have rejected it. Which basically leaves Bob or one of the construction people.

Which is *really* frustrating, because thanks to them I'm going to have to wait ANOTHER week to have a working computer.

Oh, even better - right before submitting, she called me back and said that they want me to pay shipping again, because it wasn't their fault.

It wasn't *my* fault either, ya know? And I know *full well* that if this was Minotaur they'd be shipping it back to me free of charge. And possibly rush delivery.

I'm not even going to submit this now - I'll wait until she comes back with her manager and calls me back again.

. . . okay. Now he's calling UPS again.

I think I've figured out what must have happened, and it must have been one of the construction guys - or Bob - saying "Oh, he's not here anymore!" and making it get shipped back. So maybe I should go and ask *Bob* for the $15 to reship it?

this all sucks. I want my computer!

And if *that* wasn't enough, it seems that the construction morons also rejected our DSL modem, no less than TWICE, while m00t was ACTUALLY IN THE HOUSE.

Now I'm just hoping Speakeasy won't charge us another $225 to send another one.

Of course, finding this out will involve waiting on hold for fifteen minutes.

Every debugger on the planet has a "step forward" option.

Why don't any of them have a "step backwards" option?

I mean, it would make debugging *so* much easier.

Fact 1: Naomi often visited WOTC (Wizards Of The Coast, for those who have been living under a rock, in a cave, on Mars) to hang out and play games.
Fact 2: Naomi lived near the Ave.
Fact 3: There was a WOTC on the Ave.
Fact 4: Naomi often visited the WOTC on the Ave. (can also be theorized from facts 1, 2, and 3)
Fact 5: The WOTC on the Ave is now closed.
Fact 6: CardHaus Games is (basically) on the Ave.
Fact 7: CardHaus Games is not closed.

I keep seeing one of those Gary Larson cartoons where the caption reads "Trouble Brewing".

I mean, the place is open 24 hours, is a very simple bus ride from my house, is an even simpler *walk* from *her* house, and is a place I imagine I'll be spending some time at (once, that is, MY HOUSE IS FIXED) (grr).

Although I suppose it's possible that she's not interested in games anymore.

Or she could have moved, of course.

Perhaps under a rock.

In a cave.

On Mars.

Though that would be a slightly more literal interpretation of "dropped off the face of the earth" than I was expecting.

Note to singers.

If your style is meant to include "fight the establishment" or "we're not corporate America" or "don't censor me, I'm doing it for the art" . . .

It makes you sound like a MORON.

That is all.
