this is a fascinating and beautiful story, which is highly recommended by me.

If you are a tech, I recommend it even more.

incidentally

there is apparently a better answer than the one I gave for the duck problem. Now that I'm looking at it, I think I sort-of see it, but it's too mathematically complex for me to figure out the details (and the guy who told me about it is having trouble working out the actual answer as well :P)

However, it looks like 4.6x is still possible for the duck, if not faster.

Anyone want to take a crack at it? ;)
