It should be worth mentioning that I might be a bit hard to get ahold of for a while. The fact that I thought of this about an hour after I posted the last entry, and I'm only managing to post it now, should give you an idea about just how hard it'll be to reach me.

Bureaucracy sucks.

"Well, we haven't received your orientation signup sheet. And orientation is full. So you'll have to do Part I of orientation on Monday. Meanwhile, we'll register you for Part II on Sunday. Classes start on Monday, by the way. Go get your ID picture taken - you'll need it for Part II. Oh, you can't get your picture taken until you register for classes. And you can't register for classes until you finish Part I."

Not only that, but I'm going to have to use a pay phone to find housing.

I hope this is over soon. I wanted to be here so I could, you know, go to school - not so I could deal with bureaucracy.

Great, and they've blocked AIM also, as near as I can tell.

Anyone got any ideas for getting on AIM when AIM Express doesn't work (doesn't seem to connect) and I can't install things on the computer?

In fact they seem to have basically every port except HTTP blocked. Right now I'm wishing I had an open HTTP proxy somewhere out there, except that I probably wouldn't be able to configure it because the computer's so locked down.

Ugh. I *hate* useless computer labs. "Yes, you are allowed to browse the web. Nothing else. Nobody would want to do anything else anyway."
