on french fries

It turns out it's hard to find good french fries.

Most places coat french fries lightly with sugar. This makes them brown up nicely when they're baked. It also makes them be coated with sugar.

If you want good basic french fries, consisting almost entirely of potato, you've got two choices. You can make them yourself or you can buy them from a company that's really, really, really cheap and cuts a lot of corners.

Safeway fits the latter definition. Their french fries aren't *entirely* caramel-free. But they're mostly caramel-free.

Entries like this are why you read my journal, as near as I can tell.
