Name some game genres. (Don't bother replying with some, this is just a mental exercise.)

Here, I'll give you some ideas:

First-person shooter
Real-time strategy
Top-down shooter
Turn-based strategy
Roleplaying game

Now describe movies in similar terms. For instance . . .

With computer-generated graphics
Takes place in an apartment building
Has lots of trees in it

We don't describe movies in terms of the technology used. We describe movies in terms of the feeling we're trying to convey. Why don't we describe games the same way?

(Answer: because most games are the equivalent of the Hollywood big-budget action flick, and the few that aren't, often *are* described in movie terms. But it's rarer than it should be.)
