Imagine a password verification system that also checks the typed-in password as if the user had accidentally had capslock on. For example, if I type PaSSw3rD, and that doesn't work, it also tests pAssW3Rd.

Discuss whether or not this is an improvement, in terms of security, processing power, and convenience.
