Programmers make mistakes. That's just a fact. Code is buggy, and I suspect it always will be - we do our best to make it good and solid, but mistakes happen. I've made a few whoppers and any programmer who's been working for more than a month or two probably has their own favorite horror stories.

But. That said, how the hell do you break the 7 key on an ATM?

"The machines stop functioning when someone enters the number 7, making it impossible for people with a 7 in their pin (personal identification number) code to perform a cash withdrawal"

"the problems should be solved within three weeks."

Wow, I hope someone got fired over this . . . ideally their test staff . . . but even better, and more likely, the manager who decided they didn't *need* a test staff.
