lyon: city of airports, train stations, and tasty treats

I'm not going to talk much about the trip in. My itinerary included three separate flights, the first of which turned out to be eight hours delayed. Through hard work and luck I arrived a mere three hours late.

This left enough time for my traveling companion greenity and I to take a bus into the city and walk around. First question: Why the hell doesn't America have convenient luggage storage locations in our major downtown train stations?

(I guess the second question should be why we don't have major downtown train stations.)

Lyon's pretty, from what I remember. It has rivers, which are pretty. It has small stores, which are pretty. It has delicacies which are both pretty and tasty. We had some of those, I avoided getting fruit liquor on my pants (mostly by waiting to eat the second of one particular treat, rather than the first. Learn from the experiences of others). Dinner, then train . . . long, overnight train.

Overnight trains in Europe have sleeper coaches. They're not the most comfortable sleep I've had. They're nowhere near the worst.

What can I say? I didn't do all that much in Lyon.
