"Vacation" may be too understated of a term. "Sabbatical" might be better, and I really like the idea of a "Sabbatical of Doom". So. Sabbatical of Doom.
During this sabbatical I will be driving from the Bay Area to . . . places. I plan to hit Seattle. I plan to hit Prince Edward Island and Vermont. I plan to hit Florida. I'm seriously considering driving to Alaska. As long as I'm doing all of those things, I may as well stop off at points in between, and when you have a list like that "points in between" pretty much covers North America. (With the exception of Mexico, and, hey, I can take detours.) I expect this to last at least a month, and quite likely more like three.
However, I need a list of places to go.
Now, I can manage the standard tourist attractions. I know where they are. I don't really need a list of things like "Grand Canyon, Boston, New York is cool" unless you've actually been there and are seriously recommending them as being excellent places to go. What I'm looking for is obscurity - that time you were in Nowheresville, West Dakota, and you ended up dropping by Lil' Jimmy's House of Twine, which unexpectedly turned out to be a life-changing experience.
I'd like to know about that.
(I'd also need directions to West Dakota, but I imagine most locations won't have that problem.)
So if you have some really awesome destinations you think I should check out, let me know. On top of that, if you want to meet me as I travel, let me know along with a basic idea on where you live, like, for example, the city you're in. (If this is a popular request I'll make a screened post for addresses and phone numbers and things.) Crash space would be appreciated but not required. :)
I don't have any specific schedule, note, so it'll probably be a "yeah I'll probably be in your area in (a two-week period) I'll let you know when I'm close and we can see if a meet-up is possible".
